Silicon surfaces : metallic character, oxidation and adhesion
نویسنده
چکیده
2014 The existence of an ordered or disordered noble metal (Ag, Au) monolayer on the Si(111) surface has a great influence on the growth mode of metal atoms and the oxidation of the silicon surface atoms. These phenomena are discussed and it is suggested that they are both correlated to the more or less pronounced metallic character of the surface. J. Physique 44 (19$3) 707-711 JUIN 1983,

The influence of nickel on the adhesion ability of Desulfovibrio desulfuricans.
The build-up of biofilms on metals surfaces may lead to severe corrosion, especially in the presence of sulphate-reducing bacteria (SRB). To prevent the deterioration of material caused by biofilms it is necessary to understand the processes governing biofilm development including mechanisms of cell adhesion. Additionally, corrosion of metallic surfaces due to bacteria may lead to the dissoluti...
متن کاملLaser-driven micro-explosive bonding of aluminium films to copper and silicon
Laser explosive microfabrication was used to bond micrometre-thick aluminium films to both copper and silicon substrates. Bonding was observed in both systems for laser intensities greater than about 1 x 109 Wcm 2 and resulted in contiguous, uniform films when performed in a rough vacuum of 25 to 70 millitorr. At intensities greater than 9 x 109 Wcm -2 the transferred films were generally black...
متن کاملEffects of femtosecond laser and other surface treatments on the bond strength of metallic and ceramic orthodontic brackets to zirconia
Femtosecond laser has been proposed as a method for conditioning zirconia surfaces to boost bond strength. However, metallic or ceramic bracket bonding to femtosecond laser-treated zirconia surfaces has not been tested. This study compared the effects of four conditioning techniques, including femtosecond laser irradiation, on shear bond strength (SBS) of metallic and ceramic brackets to zircon...
متن کاملProteins and cells on PEG immobilized silicon surfaces.
Silicon surfaces were modified by covalent attachment of a self-assembled (SA) polyethylene glycol (PEG) film. Adsorption of albumin, fibrinogen, and IgG to PEG immobilized silicon surfaces was studied by ellipsometry to evaluate the non-fouling and non-immunogenic properties of the surfaces. The adhesion and proliferation of human fibroblast and Hela cells onto the modified surfaces were inves...
متن کاملMorphology and adhesion of biomolecules on silicon based surfaces.
Biomolecules such as proteins, on silicon based surfaces are of extreme importance in various applications including microfabricated silicon implants, in the fabrication of microdevices with protein compounds (e.g., biosensors), and therapeutics. Morphology of silicon based surfaces with and without biomolecules and their adhesion with the substrate govern performance and reliability of the bio...
